Christie Brinkley is looking better than before on the February 2011 issue of Prevention magazine. I hope that I can look as good as her when I get to be that age. Here are some highlights from the issue on newsstands now:
On finding love again: “Most of the time I’ve got my kids with me, so I’m not as prone to meeting people. And then, you never really know if someone is talking to you because you’re a celebrity. It’s not my number one priority.”
On overcoming setbacks: “I really believe in the old expression that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. It’s through adversity that you find the strength you never knew you had.”
On being a working mom: “My work makes me a better mom. It gives me a little door to step out of my parenting and bring the excitement from my day back home.”
On giving back: “There are a million ways to help — by stuffing envelopes, forwarding an e-mail, donating as little as a dollar. The second you switch your focus to a meaningful cause, you’re no longer thinking about your own pain, sadness, or anxiety. When you help someone else, your own fear disappears.”
Her favorite cause: “We need to protect our wilderness areas and national parks. Everywhere you travel, you see blight, denuded mountains, logging. If people know what’s going on, they’ll become activists to safeguard those places.”
